My brake light stays on!?

wassup-

My brake light on my dash comes on with the ignition, and never goes off. When I release the parking brake, it dims, but stays on. Then after a few minutes the abs warning lamp comes on!

It only started doing this after it sat for a couple months. My guess is something is frozen up somewhere along the line, but where? what are the triggers for that warning lamp? there is a switch for the ebrake, then where is another?

help if you can, thanks!:(

Similar thing happened to me, I had my friend stand behind my car while I pressed the brakes and he found one of the light bulbs were burnt out and we replaced it and we all lived happily ever after.

brake or brake lamp..

im assuming he means brake..

if it says brake LAMP which i doubt it does cause you hopefully wouldve said that, its a bulb in a turn signal, or god knows where.

no clue about the brake one though, as long as your brakes not on hell, no biggie. i love having all my 4g dummy lights on, makes people in cars beside me think im in a spaceship

if the ABS warning light stays on it means you have low brake fluid. check your brake fluid and make sure its in between the recommended levels. if it is so, buy the proper brake fluid DOT (#4 i think?) go read the manual its in there.

ABS light could be a large number of things

of course the first thing to check is the fluid. make sure u check BOTH reservoirs

if low, could be a leak in the system

also a sensor is a common problem. there is 1/wheel. the worse they get, the more the brakes will start to act up.

if u say it is 'dimming', my guess would be not a sensor.

if it is full of fluid and drives fine, reset the light ;)

yea if all else fails I will reset the ecu. Where are theses sensors on the wheel located? Are you talking about the abs sensors?

thanks all!

ABS sensors, yes.

The front sensors run from the engine bay down thru the wheel well. The back ones are a little differently placed. They are very simple to point out (look for a long black wire).

What I did to pinpoint my light b/c there were so many different possibilities: had Honda run their ABS/ALB tester. It shows why the light is on (usually unless it is a leak). It was, however, like $60. I don't know where else would have it aside from Honda.

I think it was a good investment, how else would I have found out what was wrong? Unless you can grab someone's GOOD sensor off their lude, plug it into yours, and see if the light disappears. Hm I should have thought of that...
nah could be a PITA
