I just got my front Spoon Bar in today and immediatey noticed that it said 'BB1/BB4 Front' on the outside of the box. Knowing that BB1 is for the 4th gens and only the rear bars fit on 5th gens, I thought that maybe it was packaged wrong and attempted to put it on my 5th gen. Low and behold..... the bar comes up about an inch short. Everything bolts on perfectly..... the bar just doesn't want to go that extra inch.....

Soooo.... I remember reading something back in the day about how some peoples bars wouldn't fit right and something about jacking up the car to make it fit.... i dont know.....

Is there some kind of special way to get it in... or did i get the wrong bar...?????

Thanks.......

yeah...I'm lowered about 2 inches....

I tried to visualize how jacking up the car could make it fit.... and I dont see how it would work.....

and yeah.... I bent the wiring harness and cruise control harness thing out of the way and tried just about everything. But it just comes so close, its hard to believe that its not the right bar, but then again... maybe that one inch of bar is what seperates the 4th gen from the 5th gen......

Thats EXTREMELY irritating..... after waiting 3 months for this bar.... it looks like they sent me the wrong one!!! I got my bar from import-trader and this is their response when I emailed them about it being the wrong one......

"the bar should fit on your 97 as well....on the catalogue we have, the part number is the same....We also fitted one on one our our guys 97 prelude, and it fit...it just requires that you relocate the wiring harness on the passenger side by the strut. Please give us a call if you have any problems with the bar....I will try to get pics of an install sent to you. thanks!"

you need the bb6 bar as someone mentioned above. if you were able to tie it at the top while the chassis is jacked up, when you lower it, your chassis is going to be bent (seriously). dont do it, towerbars are to drop-in without much force. i use the spoon front/rear tower bar, btw. they drop in.
