My friend has a distributor that he needs to replace on his 93 prelude vtec. He replaced it nine months ago but he got a check engine light that said it was the cylinder position sensor in the distributor.

He already contacted BapGeon, where else could I call? anyone have experience with these?

Thanks.

I'd definitely go with www.manhonda.com good customer service out there and a knowledgable staff
Actually Manchester Honda has sent me the wrong parts twice. So their customer service IS nice, just not very bright.

The cheapest price out of those websites was 270 new. Any recommendations as to get new or used? Pros? Cons?
I'd definitely shell out for a new one when it comes to parts such as the distributor. When you buy such things used, you have no idea what shape they're in. Well, you can see from appearance but that will only do you so much good.

Besides, junkyards will charge you more than you think for parts. Call around. I'm sure they want at least $150.

Just buy a new one which will last you twice what a used one will last you. By the time your friend is replacing that first used distrbtr w/ the 2nd used one, he'd probably spent enough to buy a new one in the first place.

Don't forget that distributors don't usually come with the ICM, you have to order that separately for $140 or so.

Try Honda Parts. I thought they had 4Gen distributors for around $230.

One other thing, if he is replacing an old distributor, he might be able to use his old ICM.
