what is the noise?

895 Views 18 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  ywwong
I have tried everything and still can't get rid of the noise.

Whenever the car runs on the rough pavement slow, the rear of the car is making metal clicking noise. There is no noise when the car is over 20 mph.

I took off the spoon rear bar and DC lower tie bar.. and everything is tight under the car.

i need help and idea of what to do with this...

Something with the trunk lid, maybe? How about the spare tire?

yeah... i check everything that you've mentioned... the noise is produced when the car leans sideway..(making turn) or go out a tiny bumps...

it won't happen on normal driving..

it is just weird and makes me worry!!!
Get someone to ride with you, and have them listen to the noise...it'd be good to get a second set of ears.

It's hard to say...dealers vary in opinions on the "scene". Are there any aftermarket places that you can take it to?
I think it might come down to how the strut was installed. I am having a metal on metal noise and I will be removing my whole strut soon and then just installing it again with lubricant and torqueing the bolts a little better. I did it by hand before so that I didnt overtighten or strip anything.
i am thinking to put the stock suspension back.. but i am not sure if it is a good idea or not.
ywwong - it is not your aftermarket suspension that is causing the noise. The noise is caused by someone who possibly installed it incorrectly. Nothing is perfect, so I suggest if you have the money to have someone look at it and possibly re-do the bolts for the strut.

Yeah. i am thinking to bring it to Midas to let them to take a look maybe?
I guess that is the last resort if you are sure you've checked everything.

Make sure you find out what it is after they are done looking at it so you can tell us. I know alot of us have been having rear suspension noises that arent shock knock.
question... is there any difference between left rear damper and right rear damper?
No most of the time the rears are identical and the fronts are identical. But then again you have Konis right? If so, then I am not positive.
