I think you're supposed to idle @ 700 with no load, and drop down to 550 temporarily with a load. (radiator fan running) The tach isn't accurate anyway.

i dont have it with me, but i read in the helm's that normal idle for us is i think between 650-750, plus or minus 50, i think. im almost positive. btw mine is around 700, if not a tad lower. dont worry

Where abouts in the helm? I've got mine.
I went down to about 680 at a light today.
I know the Tach is off, but I have RPM on VAFC for accurate shifts.

We idle between 500 - 700 depending on load.
What a second.... if the tach is 500 rpm behind (there have been plenty of posts on this) then at 700 rpm (indicated) the motor is going 200 and at 500 (indicated) the motor is either at a dead standstill or going backwards!!

I'm sure the accuracy fades as the rpms go up.
