I just got Type S camshafts, I am in no hurry to install them, I just had a couple questions. I've been doing some research and it seems like i need aftermarket springs and retainers so i don't wear any parts prematurely. Obviously these cams are designed for 11:1 compression and I am on USDM 10:1. My plan is to purchase Type S pistons soon.

Is it okay to run the cams with stock springs and retainers as long as i don't push it past redline?

My biggest question is... Can I install these cams with the stock compression without anything detrimental happening to my head? I'm not expecting gains off of it until i get the pistons in.

Or would it be best for my motor to make this an all in one install project??

you can, but your ecu probably wont understand the change and without a tune your car wont work properly
