Test drove a 2001 Prelude, Vtec.

Today I test drove a 2001 Prelude, Vtec, automatic. It was a great ride. It looked great. .. but I knew it would have to be lowered, different rims .. and inside would need some change ..

but does anyone have any pictures of a modded 2001 Prelude? I want to get a black one .. any dislikes or likes about this car?

Thanks

don't get the auto if you can help it, take a ride in the 5sp and then decide.

yes-I almost bought an auto, until I test drove the 5 spd. It was a world of difference-kinda like the difference between condom and no condom, not that I would know

I would agree.

If you can drive a manual, buy the manual.

Get the 5 sp is cheaper. I am regret of getting a SS, now I am going to change it back to 5 sp. The tranny in SS is weak and 5 sp will be alot better for my turbo setup.

all you need is practice, practice, practice.... if need be, go rent a piece of crap and practice on that. then after you think you have it down, go buy the lude.

for me, going from SS-auto to 5speed manual, was as if i strapped on a small supercharger under the hood.

such a huge difference in speed.
It doesn't matter if you doesn't know how to drive 5spd, make the dealer deliver the car to you or have your friend drive the car back home, and then you can practise all day. I have a 97SS and when I test drove the 2000 5spd, the difference is night&day. If I can choose again I'd definitely get the 5spd.....actually I'm saving up to get a newer 5gen 5spd, so, yeah, get the 5spd....it's worth it.

How? they wouldnt let you rent a 5spd. But what you can do is hmm go to a dealer and test drive a 5spd. If you phuck the tranny up, they cant do anything. Just tell them the car is already messed up. That's how I managed to learn how to drive 5spd.

so you guys are saying that you wouldn't take a damn auto porsche?
I know 5spd r faster, but if you are on the 405 and the 55 EVERYDAY in TRAFFIC JAM...let's see which one you would want.
It's whichever the person prefer, take my dad, he used to drive 5spd back in da dayz.. 70's? and he said 5 spd saved gas, but these dayz the mileage similar, so he drives an auto.
not talking ****, but I have the SS and I CAN drive 5 spd, i just don't want the 5spd right now, and $ PeZzy $ won't regret getting an Auto as long as he gets a DAMN PRELUDE.

SS is not so bad, honestly. i have fun every time i drive my friend's. but if performance is a big part of the equation, u should get a stick(or a type R
). just don't say we didn't warn you.

Dude, I didn't really know how to drive a 5spd either when I bought my car. Needless to say, I was scared as ish driving it home by myself. I peeled out on a hill on the way home, lol, everyone thought I did it on purpose. But get the 5spd, you won't regret it. You MAY regret it if you get an auto and then learn to drive a 5spd. Manuals are a lot more fun and better to mod. You have more control of the car. But if you live in a traffic infested area, maybe you should get the auto. Either way, the Prelude is a awesome car, can't lose.

I drive in traffic everyday...5spd 5spd 5spd 5spd!! It's just more fun...

Much props Lisa, I know you do that in like heels and platforms, etc, dunno how you do it, lol.

It's true that you should consider the driving conditions around you when deciding between a 5spd and auto.

If you don't have to sit in traffic all day EVERYDAY, then I wouldn't worry about it. Driving a stick gives you more control and is just plain MORE FUN!! Which to me, is what it's all about. The stick in a Prelude is very forgiving, not like an old Civic or something (not bashing the Civic though). I think everyone should drive a manual at least once in their lives. I don't talk down to ppl who drive autos (right Ovy
), cuz their driving situation is not the same as mine.

But I do drive in traffic, especially on the crappy 405 and 55, but I would never give up the manual for an auto...at least not right now. But regardless, I'm sure whichever you get, you'll love it!!

I can think of at least four other reasons to buy a 'Lude other than performance off the line, although for most people on this forum, speed and power are number one on the list.

Those "other reasons" have absolutely NOTHING to do with the transmission. Looks, economy, smoother than average ride for a small car, cornering, etc.

So don't rule out SS. The SS 'Lude has more power than any 1st generation Legend, and equals the current generation Accord V6.

The members of this board who have "hooked-up" Preludes are to be commended. Sometimes we need to come back to reality and realize that 95% or more of the car buyers out there are gonna stay stock. Just remember how good a car the Prelude is, even in stock form.
