I've been wondering about this lately, seeing as i'm looking to enlarge my exhaust piping from the cat back. How are the newer pipes fitted onto the cat, seeing as the cat has a fixed outlet size?

For example, say your cat has a 1.75" outlet, how is a 2.5" cat-back system fitted onto it?

Thanks.

(Sorry this isn't really Prelude-related, but just imagine that it is, for sh*ts and grins.)

The exhaust attaches to the cat using a triangular shaped flange. Basically what happens is the flange is the same size so that it bolts on but the piping that comes off the flange is larger (is this case 2.5"). If the outlet on the cat is less than 2.5 then essentially the cat is now the most restrictive part of the total exhaust system.
