Anyone know if it is true that the SH tranny/ and or the SH lude block is design'd slightly different than a base model tranny/ and or block?

Same as base model tranny with atts removed?

Any help would be appreciated...

From what I know, the blocks and tranny cases are different. The differentials in the two are different as well. The blocks are different because the SH has the oil filter in a different location, and to make room for the ATTS unit.

From what I have been told, a base model tranny won't bolt up to an SH block, so the tranny cases are different as well. I don't know about internals besides the differentials.

Wonder how easy it would be to change the bell housing out to a base model one.

Once atts is removed, could the tranny even be functional?

Would a newer lude (5th gen.) Helm manual be able to show or indicate in detail were the differences are?

How could I find out the 100% correct answers to my questions, short of stealing a SH and base model and taking them apart I do not know.

Has anyone evey seen pictures of the two trannies that could prossibly be compared?

ANY idea's are helpful.

Also I am kinda press'd for time and cannot wait for another helm manual.

Could I possibly talk someone in to posting up those pages of the helm manual that show the SH tranny/ base model tranny... PLEASE!

Thanx agian, I REALLY REALLY appreciate it.

Oh well, I am not gonna sweat it.

The 5th gen tranny has different gearing anyways... closer to the si tranny gearing than a 4th gen. vtec tranny.

I am not gonna even attempt screwing with a 5th gen. SH tranny... to much hassle.

Thanx anyways for then help.

why does everyone keep saying this??????? we've been over it before :

4th gen vtec (taken from an earlier post) :

1 - 3.307
2 - 1.950
3 - 1.360
4 - 1.071
5 - 0.870

5th gen, base or SH (many sources) :

1 - 3.31
2 - 1.95
3 - 1.31
4 - 1.07
5 - 0.87

3rd gear is the only one that's different, and it's a pretty small amount. even the o.d. on the tires is the same (205/55/15 = 205/50/16)
