btw. quick follow up question. would a tire size 205/40/17 work without any problems (with lowering the vehicle and everything) with that rim size? (17x7 +42 offset). just wondering.
With the amount of drop you'll be running, the 205/40-17 size IMO will look to short. Also, almost all the tire models in this size do not have the proper load rating for the vehicle.

Thank you for the additional information.

Since the Cuzco 17x7 comes with a +42mm offset, you will not want to run a spacer. The 5mm spacer is going to push the wheel out further making the offset +37mm. Since you plan on lowering the vehicle, the ideal tire size to run with the +42mm offset is size 205/45-17.
got it. so 205/40/17 is not a good idea. its just because i have some spares in that size just lying around here. i was going through some tires for the size 205/45/17 and i found some hankooks which i heard were very great tires. thanks for all the help.

I have bought a set of Civic Type-R FN2 rims for my Prelude.

I know that the 225/35/18 tyres are the best option, but I would like to go for the 225/40/18 tyres. My Lude is not lowered and the rim specifications are
ET 55 7,5JJ.

Would this fit without rubbing?

A 7.5" wide wheel with a +55mm offset (6.4" BS) is aggressive for your application. The max offset we recommend for a 7.5" wide wheel is +45mm (6" BS). I recommend test fitting the wheels first for inside clearance. As far as the tire size goes, 225/40-18's will more than likely rub. Size 215/40-18 would be a better option to consider but is also aggressive and a test fit is recommended.

I have put the FN2 wheels on my Lude with 215/40/18 Dunlop SP Sport 01 tyres....

I thought that the car would look more lowered with my new rims but it doesn't...

Here are some pictures:

The rims don't rub... the space between the rims and the brakes is minimal but ok.
Anybody suggestions for lowering the car? only with (eibach pro kit) lowering springs on original shocks? or is this bad for my Lude while it has driven 170.000 kilometres on original springs?

Hey I'm looking at getting these wheels but from the chart it says this is a grey are lower which I am. I'm on kyb agx and tein s.tech, so I'm wondering if anybody knows a tire that would go with these without hitting the outside lip of the wheel well
