I dont see any mention of 205/45/16's in the 16" section for 4th gens....is this a tire for civics/integras cuz of the aspect ratio?? I believe the overall diameter would be slightly shorter than stock with this size tire (on a 4th gen)....any input?

so is 48mm seemingly the magic number to use with a 17x7? I was thinking 17x7 Sparco NT-R's with a 48mm offset, and if they only come in like a 42 I would use a 5mm spacer.

also, would 215/40/17 be the best size if I plan to lower about 2 inches?

My 2 cents

18 x 7.5 +44 offset
225/35-18

Tab rubbing on rear bumper. Ground down and now no problems.

Lowered about an inch all the way around.

i am on 18x7.5 45 offset with 225/35/18 nitto n555's. lowered about 2inch with tein SS. no problems unless hitting a huge dip. the back rubs very little (after the trimming). the front rubs a little on the liner. other than that no problems.

I'm looking into getting 17x8 wheels +43 offset with at least a 225/40/17 tire. I think that a 215/40/17 tire would look skinny on a 8" wide wheel.

I am running stock 5th gen and I am thinking about getting some tires/rims for the comming summer, ill be going to a drag strip to see how I do...

Question (s)

Should I stick with 16" or go 17".... Ive read that the weight of the tire/wheel effects performance significantly, so by going to a larger rim size Id gain traction but lose on the performance side? Or would I? (Because of the additional weight)... anyone know the stock weight size ?

I know tires are huge! but I am thinking the 17" isnt really necessary...

215/40/17 will fit fine in a stock setup by the looks of it...

Other thing I was wanting to know what is off set? lol... thanks.

Volk CE28n are 13.75lbs for 17x7.5. You can run up to a 235 on that. Light enough to negate the weight gained from running bigger tires.

Stock rims i think are around 19lbs.

A friend of mine can get a set of 2005 TL A-Spec wheels for me. They are 18x8 45mm offset and normally use a 235/45/18 tire. Is it even possible to put this large of a wheel on preludes? After reading various threads it seems like I would have to go with a 225/35/18 tire and maybe roll my fenders? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I really want these wheels, but I dont want to get them and then they dont fit right.

I was reading a rim thread on the preludezone forums and the general consensus from that thread (18x7.5) with the correct offset , is that you will still run into rubbing issues when taking hard and fast turns...

Consider the fact you want wider rims and not recommended off set , I think your setting yourself up for problems, if you know what you'll need to do correct that , go for it. If not, dont.

Ive come to the conclusion of not going for 18s myself, just to avoid issues.

**Edit I may check out 18x7.5 after seeing a really good deal, but wouldnt go with 18x8

I have a G5 and need to replace my current aftermarket wheels as they are worn out. I'm looking at R1 Racing Grip but they come in 17x7 with +40mm offset and recommend here is +45mm. Wheelnext recommends using 205/40/17 but I want to use 215/45/17's verses what will I have any issues rubbing? Currently have KYB AGX and H&R Springs.
