Question for Preluders.....

2018 Views 24 Replies 20 Participants Last post by  Ludecrs
For you 5sp people--
If the Accord V6 was available in 5 sp, would you have still gotten Prelude?

For the SS people--
If there was no "SS" mode (just straight boring auto D4), woudl you have bought Accord V6 (or somethign else)?

I dont think i would have bought lude if it was straight auto.

If the Accord V6 came in a 5spd I would've gotten that. I love my car but I wanted more low end grunt and a real trunk when I got my car. Originally I had ordered a silver Contour SVT but I waited over a month and finally gave in and bought a 'lude. I don't regret it a bit but I'm sure I would've been happy with the SVT as well.

Excellent question, Ed!

1) If the Accord V6 were available in stick, I probably would NOT have bought it when I bought the 'Lude. But NOW, after owning a 'Lude for a little over a year, I would seriously be considering a trade!

2) If the Prelude only came in straight auto, I would NEVER have bought it. I would have either waited until I could afford a CL, or else settled for a 4 cyl. Accord coupe.

(Hmmmm, what's wrong with this picture?)

I definitely would have considered it. The V6 Accord has a sweet engine, and of course I would welcome the cubic feet the trunk has to offer. But when it comes right down to it... the reason I bought my Prelude was because of performance and exclusivity. Accords on the road are a dime a dozen! Anyone who drives a Prelude immediately falls in love with its handling! And you can't beat its low stance either. The moment you sit in it, you know you're in a performance oriented car. Also, don't get me started about the transmition! How did the guys at Car and Driver describe it.... it has a WD-40 shifter! And last but not least, you've just gotta love that high reving engine under the hood! The biggest in its class!
Nope! Not in a Million Years.
Heavier and SOHC? NOT!!!!

nope i think i would be driving a GSR right now or eclipse GSX :p
Considering things..i would have liked the accord V6 stick..if there was one made here.. but looking back... I should've just bought a cheap ride around car and save the rest of the money for a used Supra or a used NSX or a S2000.

i'd still pick the prelude, the coupe is too big for me, plus i like DOHC VTEC

if there's no SS mode on the auto, VTEC would be more diffcult to engage, while the V6 coupe is a better buy with loaded standard features, it'd be a tougher decision, i'll still go with the lude cuz it handles better, and i care about this more than pure acceleration. there, a totally biased opinion from your prelude fella

Maybe you missed the point of the question. We're talking about if the accord was available in a 5-speed.

Resist, and you'll be overcome
Well, if you would have posed this question before I drove an Accord V6 I would have just said no. But since my gf got an accord V6 and I have now driven it, I would have to say that I would really really consider it. A 5spd Accord V6 would be pretty nice.
