People with lighter aftermarket wheels...

People with lighter aftermarket wheels, do you notice the car accelerating faster? Has anyone timed their cars before and after? Is steering response improved? I'm just curious because rotating weight is bad and the Preludes have chunky rims. I often wonder if this is why the "drivetrain" is accused of being so in-efficient.

I know not a lot of people don't like SCC but in the last issue there is a article about stock VS aftermarket rims. They ran a civic on a DYNO and this said a loss of around 4 ponies. Will do a butt dyno after I get my stock rims replaced. Hope this helped.
I'm sorry but I forgot to menton the small weight increase too. So I would think A lighter rim would help out.

Yeah, I was gonna say that if the aftermarket rim is like +2 or something...it's probably going to be a couple of pounds heavier than the stockers!

If you ADD weight, you'll lose the horsies at the wheels

actually --- i have some SSR evolution decolte rims --- they are 16.7 lbs --my previous rims were heavy as F**K --- so when I put these babies on it definitely made a diff. --- even increased my gas mileage!

showoff: Do you have any pics of these wheels on your car? I bet these look sweet on a 5th gen... Where did you order them from? I could not find anyone who imports the Delcoltes...

Stock wheels weigh in about 19 lbs each, with tire mounted, it's about 40 lbs each. I used to have the 18" 5Zigen. They were pretty light considering that these were 18" 3-piece wheels. The rim/tire combo weighed in about 45 lbs each. I used to swap wheels for the auto-x, every time when I put on the stock wheels, I could feel the acceleration of the car had improved. Now that I'm running on 16" CP-035s which weigh in at about 11 lbs each (32 lbs with the tire on), the acceleration is much better. The steering response has also improved. Now I feel that the steering wheel is "lighter".
