OBX coilovers any good?

4746 Views 20 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  dptkfil
ok before you guys start throwing stuff at me. i will only be using them temporarily for about 4-6 months with stock shocks while i save up for some Full coilovers like Tanabe or Apexi.

i know OBX is pure crap but will they hold out for that long? are they pretty well constructed (to last 4-6 months)? the locking collars wont break or anything like that will they? i was gonna get the GC but cheapest i can get them for is like 325 and thats from a shop that seems shady to me. the OBX i can get for like 240.

and if you're wondering why i dont just get lowering springs, its cause i want the adjustability and yes i do plan on adjusting often. and no i wont Auto-X or Drag (a lot) or drive it to hard with the OBX's either. its mainly just for looks.

You should get lowering springs like Eibach or H&R. OBX is bad news, you will have squeeking and most likely one spring rate to choose from.

Lowering springs will ride ok on your stock shocks for atleast 4 to 6 months. Thats my opinion tho.
BlueShadow.....you're going to be throwing money away if you get them to just hold you over.....just have patience and wait till you have the money for the GC's.

but i dont wanna get lowering springs, when i got them for my 99 civic si i was a lil lopsided. if the drop is even then maybe i'll get them but i only wanna drop it bout 1 inch maybe 2 on weekends so i can go pimpin

don't some places sell insulator material for vehicle springs so that they don't squeek? i'd only have the OBX for 4 maybe 6 mos.

also one spring rate to choose from isn't really a bother as long as its not like super stiff. but what about the OBX's construction?

suppy! i actually have the money for either one.i would really like to get some full coilovers, but i am unable to get them right now. and since im not a serious Auto-Xer and only a part time dragger, should i go for the full coilover or would a GC/koni setup be good enough?

So you think you wont be lopsided with OBX's? I would rethink what your doing. I think some cheaper lowering springs (or like Joon said, SAVE IT!) would be better.

OBX is equivalent to WeaponR, which is equivalent to MaxSpeed coilovers or any other type of generic coilovers. Trust me the OBX's WILL be stiff. Nothing rides like Eibachs or H&R's.

Really up to you......I think either are good choices in my opinion. Just don't buy something to hold you over....also if you REALLY want a coilover like the Teins then WAIT till you got the money to spend on them. Don't settle because you don't have the patience.

and also about wether or not i sould get GC/Koni or full coilover theres a place nearby that can get the Apexi WS damper for $955. i'm guessing thats just 175 more than the GC/koni but i can get the GC first then get the Koni later. installation is not an issue cause i can don it myself for only $6 (hyd lift)

oops my bad! i meant to say the place nearby carries them for accords/civics for 955 but i was gonna check with them or Apexi-usa to see if they have apps for Ludes.... but judging from your reply Joon they dont make them. sooweee i'll go sit in the corner for that one.
but i think i might just go for the GC/Koni and stick with that. i need to drop my car before my wheels get here or i'll be driving ATV style.

Yes I agree w/Joon and others who told u not to get something "JUST FOR THE TIME BEING"

Remember when doing something always do it right the first time!!!!!!!!

BTW-GC/Koni's would be sufficient IMO
