I was cruising down the 405 S. on my way home to Valencia in the fast lane going about 70-80mph and out of know where comes this huge piece of metal.. SMACK right into my front bumper. I almost SH*T my pants right there. Words can't even describe how I felt. This just happened about 2 hours ago..had to come home and pound down 3 beers before I could look at the damage.

Ouch...it looks like the bumper's thrashed, drivers side headlight and front fender. SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH*T! IM SO PISSED RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just hope this is covered under my comprehensive and not collision. Difference is $100 deductible versus $500. Btw, anyone know of a good body shop in Valencia? Or where I work in Century City?

Dude sorry to hear that.
I know the feeling though. I have a big scratch on my front bumper from where someone hit it in the parking lot at work. So much for the camera patrolled lots, that area of the lot is not covered by the cameras.

It should be covered under you comprehensive. At least I hope so for your sake.

that sucks...i know the feeling...a couple weekends ago i was parked in a lot and i thought there wasn't a median so i went forward in the space and accidentally went up onto the curb....so i put in in reverse and tried to sloooooowly go back down, only to hear a big THUMP when i hit the ground....luckily i check everything out and it was ok (i thought i had bashed my header and cracked my kit), but it turns out it was only the bumpstops

Thanks for the support fellow luders...

What is so hard to deal with is that I take such good care of my lude... and there are pieces of sh*t cars driving right next to me and who get hit... me! Now how do you explain that????????????

It's almost like I can't have anything too nice or it gets damaged.. I had this sweet '70 firebird that I just got painted. Finally got it all back together and was taking it out for its "maiden voyage" to pick up my girlfriend. Put her in the passengers seat and go to back up, and I slam right into a metal trash can.. never saw it. That was another beer pounding night.. or was it straight whiskey?

So what do u think it is.. just some weird way the universe works. Or does this sh*t happen to everyone. I think alot about this - I just wish that the opposite was true: we shouldn't be penalized for caring. I take pride in my car and enjoy keeping it looking and running its best. Sad to say that it doesn't seem to pay off when bad luck comes your way. Oh well, thats life i guess.

Kool-Lude, you'll be OK. You can be the most careful person with your car in the world, and you get screwed in some ways anyway. As the old gang on this board knows, a few months ago, I THOUGHT I parked my car in a very safe spot, but no sooner than I step out of the car, one of my friends in his Civic, hits the right front qurater of my car. I was PO'd at my friend, but it got fixed fairly quickly, and I'm happy again

This sort of stuff happens to me too! And yes the nicer and better care you take of your car the more that stuff happens.

Excuse me while I knock on wood for the next five minutes...

Sorry to hear that, it just sucks, yeah your insurance should cover it under comprehensive. How big was the piece of metal? Maybe it fell off a big truck, cause sometimes those idiots don't tie down their stuff.
Some crap has happened to me too, last year I was parked at a shopping center for half hour, come back my whole rear bumper was scrapped right down to the plastic, have no idea what happened, nobody seemed to know anything, looked like a big delivery truck used his big tires and shaved half the paint of my bumper, I didn't bother claiming just got it repainted at a friends bodyshop.

Yea..i guess u guys are right. Sh*t happens. I probably should try and look on the bright side - no real serious damage. I hope daylight doesn't prove me wrong. And maybe I should take this opportunity to get my side sills and rear skirt painted.. and add that front oem spoiler i've always wanted. Now i'm feeling better

Thanks again for your support!

2000 black 5spd base...slightly damaged.

I'm gonna sleep this off-I think tomorrow will be better...........good night.

It was HUGE!!! Well, it looked huge at the time. It was big enough to bash up stuff. I'll need a new bumper, headlight and front part of the fender will definately need some bodywork. I'm hoping thats it..gotta wait til daylight to check.

I was right next to a large city transit bus.. at first i thought it came from under the bus (exhaust pipes or something). Ever tried to get a bus to pull over doing 75mph on the freeway. I followed him 10 miles til he got off and i stopped right in front of him during a drop off. He claimed it didn't come from his bus, but i got his name and lic. plate # anyway.

Ha! Ha! Ha!
Nice to see you've kept your sense of humor during your troubles... It's the only way, better than crying and killing the cat.
Hope you get it 'sorted' soon.
