I'm just a snooping 4th gen guy, but I bet the mugen pedals would still fit the 3rd gen. On the back they are indented for the oem assembly without the rubber. The kit comes with tiny plates that tighten down on the edge to hold the pedal covers in place. It is literally a tiny piece of metal with two threaded holes.
In fact don't even bother with the genuine mugen in this case. Why pay a ridiculous price for pedal covers? The replicas of the pedals are very nice and once installed you would never know the difference. I scored an opened but unused mugen pedal set from a guy who had just found out he had been fooled. The replicas are cast aluminum with the nickel blown surface or whatever they call it, just like the real deal. The only problem I had was that they painted the back of the pedals silver and the double sided tape I was using peeled it right off. Slap on a new square of tape where the paint has been pulled away and you're good to go.
