I have a K&N filter w/resonator removed. Don't want to spend $300CDN on a AEM CAI, would like one but its too much.

Looking at the stock airbox if you remove the top part and take the filter out and look down you will see the bottom part which is bolted down and you can see that the hole on the plastic is very small, what do you guys think of cutting around it so the hole would match with the metal part(the part you have to cut to fit the AEM CAI). Wouldn't that draw much more cold air than stock resulting in better breathing????

Here's a better solution, remove the bottom piece of the stock airbox, remove the resonator, or basically, remove everything below the filter. So what you have left is the top half of the air box and the filter. Zip tie the filter to the top half and you're set. That's what I did when I didn't have intake. It did make a BIG difference in vtec compared to an enclosed airbox

thats pretty much what the pics above are..except you don't have to zip tie it it will clamp down securly.
What everyone said sounds right! But, I think what BlkLude is getting at is.. cold air is better than under-the-hood air. So why not just open up that hole a bit and let in more cold air.

lOOkatme: Since ur the only one I know of that cut the air box bottom, what do u think? Did u ever try running with the stock box intact, resonator out, and K&N in..before cutting the box so as to compare?

GSR-killa: How about u..ever compare the two?
