If you had 20,000 to spend on a new/used car what would it be?

It seems like i am selling my car very shortly here... yes.. it is hard... but it is time for me to move on, i think...

What would you guys buy new or used for under 20 grand?

Right now, i want an Audi A4 1.8T Quattro, but haven't heard too much about them from people.

Next is an ITR, then a 5th gen Type Sh, then the thought of buying an older honda/integra, and turboing the hell out of it...

Anyone wanna throw out some ideas to me?

Thanks Yo,

new wrx and finance the rest.

much better buy then buying a lude and putting a turbo and all that crap. buy a new car and still retain the resale value.

even with the small problems of the wrx, well worth the cash unless you can wait for the evo.
78' 308 GTS

Then when it breaks down, just keep it in the garage and stare at it.

get a 98 Dodge minivan.. and turbo it out.. you can run low 12's all day at the track.

I would use it for a healthy down payment on a yellow IS 300!!!!!
what will be the purpose of ur new ride?

If daily driver, then pls don't "turbo the hell out of it"

There are so many choices and options out there, u gotta narrow down ur objectives and giveus more details!

If I wasn't practical, an RX-7, a 240SX with a engine swap (like what atlchink wants to do), an old Porshe (944 or 928) or an Eclipse GSX would be cool. If I want to be practical, an SUV, like a used Isuzu Rodeo or nearly-new Honda CR-V, would be better.

Well I'd check with your insurance company before considering the ITR. For some reason it was like 300% MORE then my '99 SH. That might take one more factor out of the equation. I like the Audi but I'm kinda tired of the squeaks and rattles of my 'lude so coming from me it's sour grapes.
An A4 Quattro would be sweet, I am thinking about getting one for a winter car, an older one. Hmm, I like my 5 gen... Get what you like to drool over....

Go RWD. I'd get an E30 ('88-'91) M3 with a lot of upgrades, or get a '95 and finance the rest (~$5,000).

Porsche 968s are also coming way down in price. All under $25,000 now. RWD, 250hp, lots of luxury and a Porsche. They are very reliable, but maintanence costs is the issue with them. www.968.net

I'd NEVER get an Audi. Sure, they're more reliable than they used to be, but that's like saying that on a scale of 0-1,000, 1 is way better than 0 :p

Audi, VW - unreliable junk. Their drivetrain might be solid, the rest of the car is not...

I'd look until I found a TT Supra for that price, there are a few every once in awhile.
I would wait until next year when mistubishi brings the lancer evolutions over and pick up one of those bad boys.

Yeah, but expect prices for those cars to be in the mid $20,000 range at least. WRXs are being marked up now, so I'd use that as a gauge.
