I just drove a WRX, and call me crazy but....

I bought one. i couldn't believe how amazing that car is. If you haven't driven one, I highly suggest you go out and find one to drive. I was gonna talk the wife into letting me get an IS300, but after driving the WRX, I was sold. I placed an order for a limited edition Blaze yellow WRX with the BBS 17" wheels, Spoiler, Rear diff bash gaurd, Gauge pod with Boost/Volt/Water temp gauges, And the Short Shifter. I am also awaiting the body kit, It hasn't been released yet. After destinatin fee, and prep, no tax (I am tax exempt), the total was $27,750. I have to wait about 3 weeks to get it, as It is a custom order for the Blaze yellow, and the BBS wheels are on back order right now. The cool thing is that they just give you the wheels with no tires mounted. That way I can use the 16" wheels for racing. And have the 17" for the street. I have also placed an order for a RalliSpec 3" exhaust, and a new down pipe. I have to keep the Cats since it is an OBDII car, and there is an extra O2 sensor in there. But I will be removing the Catalyst right before the Turbo, and I will be removing the Tumbler valves in the intake manifold. They are there to help lower emissions on cold start up. I am also going to hook up my old Greddy Boost controller, and Turbo timer. Crank the boost a tad, and hopefully really have some fun. It is tuned at 13.5-14.5 PSI. The JDM spec one is tuned to 18psi, and has Variable valve timing. Why can't we get all the cool, stuff.
I was extremely impressed with the sales guy's knowledge of the car. Most sales people seem to know less than the buyer. This guy was a true Scooby fan. He drove the hell out of the one we test drove. We were doing 4 wheel drifts and hard launches all through the back Amish country here. It was sweet. he wanted to go trail running but I talked him out of it. I am just so freaking excited about this car. I am more excited about this car than I am about the M3 that should be here soon. I guess they just put them on sale last Friday. they have 3 testers on the lot, but they are for testing only. you have to order the one you want.
Anyway I was just so happy I thought I would share. Sorry for being of topic, and long winded.

wow, congrats, don't forget to post pics when u got your car. how does the factory spoiler look like? i've never seen one with spoiler on magazines or even in the commercial. the price is a bit more that i'd expected, but then u got a lot of options, can u get any discount on it? man, just thinking about a yellow WRX makes me want to have one. *drool*

Hmmm..I was just talking about how that would make a good replacement for my Prelude...having 4 doors and all.

I went to my local subaru dealer this past sunday. They had 4 WRXs, 2 sticks, 2 automatics. I was VERY impressed with the quality of the interior... way better than crappy toyota interior, and IMHO, just as good as Honda interior!!. I couldnt test drive one, but the shifts felt very nice.. reminded me of my prelude... the shifter was a little to tall though. I did notice the cat right after the turbo as well... then noticed 2 more under the car! crazy. I wasnt impressed with the looks however. When I saw it in magazines I thought "its ugly but it will probably look better in person" .. well, it looks worse in person than in the magazines. I thought the quality of the exterior was kind of cheap. None of them have a spoiler either.

Dr. James.. what shade of yellow is the color.. more of a mustard, more like Audi's, or like tiburons (ugly!! very pale)?

I wish I could have driven it.. everyone should at least go sit in one at your local dealer... youll be surprised by the interior.

No money trees here. I have just bought and sold quite a few cars. I just recycle that money into my new cars. Lets see where does my money come from? my wife makes made loot at the hospital, I have no Consumer debt, I have no kids, I have 3 jobs, and I made some good moves in the stock market. So it may seem like I have lots of money, But I cetainly don't live outside my means. And I refuse to have consumer (credit) debt, Car loans, or any other kind of loan, execpt for the house.
Make some good decisions in life, work hard, and strive to have the things you want, and they will be yours.
I will certainly have to get some pics when it gets here. As for the factory spoiler, look on the Subaru web page. I wasn't expecting any kind of warp speed rocket. This isn't the 22B here. But it has tons of potential. And it is built like a rock. They even made the interiors more livable. 28K seems high, but the majority of that came from the BBS wheels. That is a 3K option. They are custom for the WRX only. Forged Aluminum with a +53 offset. It's hard to find some nice forged wheels with that offset, for the same price. Unless you go custom like Fikse, or Kinesis.

Congrats on the new car.

I saw in the new C&D that by 2002, 2003 they should have the WRX STi out. Yeah, the 276 hp one. It's pushing 17.5 psi.

Well, if the STi version does get released, and it comes with all the cool STi stuff, like adjustable Tq split, water injection, aluminum suspension stuff, and all the cool extras, then I will trade this one in for a new STi.

j/k...I actually have been looking for some good stock market investments. Looking for that company thats ahead of its time to pay off down the road...along with a few good stable investments.

I love my job..just have to supplement my income to make ends meet now.

Naaa..its not dead....just have to know what to look for as far as growth potential goes.

Technology companies are hurting..but there are other areas to invest in.

I definitely wouldn't invest in an internet based corp. now..lol...on the other hand...there might be some real good investments out there now, at bargain basement prices, but you'd better know what your doing if you gamble with that.

I have a pretty good idea of what I am looking for....we'll see what happens.

For the future though I will have a few stable investments.
