I just raced my friends stock S4 i think its a 2001...

we did a rolling start and from stop.

from rolling to end of 3rd gear he was only able to pull 1-2 cars at most

from stop he pulled about 3 but im not used to launching had too much wheel hop

I have an AEM cold w/air ram, dc header, apexi ws, msd ignition, egr/coolant by pass. and had my spare tire and rear seats out.. i was surprised that my car kept up.. and he was surprised kind of dissapointed that he couldnt really beat me by much.

I thought i would get crushed.. i shifted at 7600 well thats what i set my autometer to.

i could probably take his car if i get the vafc tuned.

i think S4 are 14.3 stock

yea theres one S4 by me and lets just say he probally has alot more than a chip so i wont even think about racing him..until i get my Nitrous..like that will help...lol

ive run one with the Bi-pipes intercooler, dowpipe ect ect, and i beat it, very beautiful cars, gorgeous interiors, but nothing that impresses me power-wise, it SHOULD perform better than i think it does, id take an M3 over the S4 anyday..peace

The S4's, like most German cars, respond VERY well to mods like chips, downpipes, etc...my buddy has one, and even w/ 4 people in the car, it pulled like holy hell. Just watch out for the modded ones, please. Their big turnback is that they are truly TANKS.

well i almost took my friends stock s4 from a rolling start but if it had mods yeah it would be fast....

I raced one once, the kid was screwing with me, i was minding my own business, but then i got annoyed dropped the hammer down into 3rd at like 60mph, and I was off. Put it this way, it was such a raping, he didn't even have the balls to pull up next to me after i beat him by like 8 cars..

Just curious, but what are you putting down on the dyno, Specialque? The S4's a pretty decent car, powerwise.

i agree with specialique, they dont impress me at all, ive raced two diff ones both at the track...one was silver one was blue, both people live in my area..they have Bi pipe upgrade, chip, IC piping downpipe, exhaust/intake..ect, and i crushed them both...i mean for all the mods, and th 50k price tag id certainly expect alot more, in fact one guy at the track in a red one was talking smakc to this guy , the kid with the red one was like 19 or so, mommy and daddy bought him one for his graduation, anyways he was talking smack to this guy in a silver 02 M3, they bet 30 bucks on the run, and the m3 beat him so bad it wasnt even funny..they raced again cuz the kid said he missed a gear, not that it actually mattered since he got beat by like 3 busses...this time the bmw didnt even launch until the S4 chirped secod, and by the 1/8th had caught him, and put 3 or so cars on him at the 1/4...very funny..:D

DAYAM!!! Now that's impressive. I guess I was a lil' too impressed by the butt dyno when riding w/ my friend in his... Your Lude must be a factory freak (the engine, I'm talking about), b/c it damn sure is pretty impressive.

well you cant really compare prelude 23 car to yours.. becuase he has a JDM and I think that makes more horse power stock than our motors does... so thats why he always winning.. becuase i think the stock S4 wheel horse power is like 170 becuase of 4 wheel drive etc.. they lose a lot.. so you cant compare his car to yours if you had his engine it would be a different story...

I knew he had a JDM H22, but I'm wondering what else he's really got, b/c JDM H22'd 4th gens don't cross into the 13's unless they've got a reasonable amount of mods, and the driver is REALLY GOOD. I mean, I see a lot of low 14's, but few 13's...

my mods are... 97 up AEM cai, Greddy SS header, ApexiN1 exhaust, Vafc( its set basically at zero, -1% on the high cam only thats it) skunk2 CamGears, and a p28 with a GSR chip....i have a CF hood and ES motor mounts, also have a B&M FPR but its set at stock pressure..everything else is in the car..94 up interior with the vtec options streeing wheel ect also has the pass airbag even though its a 93 ..looks better than the hole that used to be in my dash..and i ran 14.0 for a long time, then put on my old beat up radials, and i didnt spin into second which i think helped me get my 13s..but with better street tires i think 13 are possible...i just kept adding stuff, and trying different things to get where i am now..i dont consider myself a great driver, but the people ni this area do, they ask me to run thier cars for them,, becuase no one has been able to match my times with my set-up..btw when i first got my swap my best times wer 14.7 @ 95 with short ram intake/DC header/ and apexi n1..i still think the S4s are overated, sorry ive driven a modded one, and a stock one, dont feel as powerful as i expected, still very nice cars though

prelude 23 for my next mod.. i was either thinking of getting vafc and tune or crower stage 2 cams or maybe even the smsp header..but i dont know what the gains are until i see someone from our board install it and dyno it you know what i mean. what do you think i should do next. so far.. i have AEM cold, dc cc header, apexi ws exhaust, msd ignition, pulley, thats it with weight reduction. from a rolling start i stay even with my friends s4. so i think im under 15.0 sec quarter.
be their stock is 14.3 i believe.

the easiest way to look at your cars power isnt your 1/4 mile times...look at your trap speeds, they indicate your cars power, good times come from traction.....to be honest your exhaust is kinda restrictive, if your looking for NA power, and id also replace that DC header...you can get a 4th gen greddy SS header, and have a small test pipe made and it will open up your exhaust flow, although i still think you need a much more free flowing exhaust if your trying to maximize top end power, look at the N1, or something similar, and a better header, vafc can also be a useful tool, maybe you should look inot geting a hondata setup, and obd2 workaround..let me know if you have any other questions..peace

oh yeah i did the ob2 work around and egr and coolant bypass
yeah i was going to get the N1 but too loud... so far im happy with the ws exhaust i knew that it woudl be restrictive but it is an improvement from my stock from butt dyno.
now im just thinking either cam, smsp header or vafc

if your going to mess with cams, you need to decide what u want, if your trying to make NA power youll NEED a better exhaust...it may be slightly louder, but, freeing up a bunch of air is pointless if your going to clog it up , know what i mean?
