Rough life...
...how has the reliability been on the GTi? I haven't stopped by the VW Newsgroups in a long time.</font>
My GTI has been withought a problem except for the Window Regulator service bulletin. I never had the "dropped-window" problem because mine was fixed before hand. Other than that, I'm a very happy owner. I was thinking of a Z-Engineering supercharger at one time, but I don't drive it enough to make many mods to.
Reliability on my Prelude, on the other hand, has been a joke. But, I'm a loyal Honda fan and I at least love the 5th gen design. What problems have I had, here we go:
Rack and Pinion unit replaced @ 35k miles.
Tail-light wiring harnesses relpaced (kept blowing fuses).
ABS unit replaced.
BallJoints replaced (after they were replaced for the recall).
Replaced clutch/ignition switch.
Replaced Piston rings for excessive oil consumption.
Replaced Engine due to bad oil pump (lost VTEC @ about 7krpm.
My new 99 engine runs great, still stuck in the 97 body, though. My new problem is that the if the key is in the ignition and the power is on, closing the driver's door will lock the car... go figure.
