Interesting... It's really technical, but he's dead-set against crank pulleys.

BTW, I need a new .sig, anyone got ideas before o0OO0o bans my arse?

nice article, it explains a lot about how they work. Its a little scary, knowing what can happen. I better take mine off.

Are you really taking yours off?
I was thinking about getting these until I read that aritcle.

That article obviously applies to crank pullies, like Unorthodox racing, whereas the AEM accessory pullies are perfectly safe.

why doesn't UO just stick that piece of rubber or whatever in there? if honda can do it, i dont know if it would damage the structual integrity of the pulley...oh well

Just take the quote off and leave Beavis. That way we'll all still know what you mean, but technically o0OO0o will no longer be dissed.

It's a little more complicated than that. The pulley needs mass to damp the harmonics. The rubber piece by itself can't do it.

Actually I like "quoth" - it's the old English way of saying it.

Ever read "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe? Then you know what I mean.

"Quoth the raven, nevermore!" =]

Yep, thats what I have been saying all along on the dampener issues. The mass of the pulley itself comes into the equation for dampening the harmonics and natural frequency of the moving parts.
