Was wondering if I did cams/adj cam gears and maybe upgrade the valve springs/retainers without getting the basic bolt ons like exhaust and header (I have an intake right now) would that be pointless??

I know you would gain less power but would the power still be there with the stock header/exhaust.
Thanks.

Yes, you'll notice a difference, but ideally you should match the cam to the intake and exhaust combo that you're running. If you swap cams, you'll probably need different valve springs (check the cam manufacturer) which may require different retainers and locks.

I'm guessing that there are more flavours of exhaust systems than there are cams, so start with the cam or gears - you can match up the exhaust later. Crower, Crane, and Comp all make good bumpsticks, and as long as you follow the install instructions you should be alright.

But then you have to adjust the cams.......
