Audio Question for our Lude.

Guys, I'm still driving around my 5th Gen Lude with the stock CD HeadUnit. Now, here's my question. I want to add on to the HU, a MiniDisc HU. But, I was told that I can't add on to the current stock HU. It's either I replaced the Stock HU or don't change anything. But I want to keep my stock CD HU and add-on to it, an MD Unit, so that I can use both. So have anyone done this before? Ie: keep the Stock HU while add-on some other HU on top of it ?

Could probably be done with an adaptor lead.
Like when you run an aftermarket CD changer with the factory head unit.

Can't be done effectively sorry
I don't see why you'd want both anyway.

i agree grnlude97 it cant be done.. i rather throw away or sell the stock HU its powerful but nothing compares to the aftermarket HU.

Why do I want both? Well I'm not sure if any of you have heard about minidisc. Anyway, if the replacement HU is a CD-Player, then I wouldn't even replace it to begin with. I think the stock HU satisfy my listening needs. But I'm not replacing another CD HU. But a MiniDisc. So this way, I won't be stuck on just having the MD HU instead of both MD and CD together. Well, to learn more about MD go to www.minidisc.org Just that I have recorded all my songs on MD, and would like to listen to it in the car.

How about something like this? I will buy one my self and try it.

It'd probably be cheaper to just buy a CD burner and record songs that way. The stock CD player will not play CD-RW's but it will play CD-R's. Plus CD-R's are less than a dollar a piece. CD's sound just as good as MD's.

It is true that CD-R are cheap, but since I use MD all the time might as well make use of it in the car too.

oh wait, im getting off topic... but yea, just get a new HU, its worth the money imo. i was not into audio at all before untill i realized the joys of having a new more powerful HU. mines made ready for i think 3 more inputs or whatever u call them... so i can just add a MD or DVD later in teh future somewhere...

Why don't you get the Double-Din consist of MD and Cd-Player. Plus the graphic EQ look amazing. Especially the Alpine one.

I may be wrong, but I thought I read in the manual that the stock unit plays 3" discs, as well as cd's.
