Will there be a noticible difference in performance by using 1 less octane than the 91 suggested?

Maybe, Maybe not. I think more than likely, yes, at least if you run it regularly (might not notice it if you mix with a tank of 93).

You should notice it as a loss of power, the knock sensor reports knock to the ECU and you lose the timing advance.

In my 93 SI, i could definitely tell a difference running the mid-grade stuff compared to premium.
