Does anyone market a 3" exhaust for the 5Gen?

NO, but I found some interesting information from a guy who races a GSR with a HiTech header;

The HiTech header is a long tube design, where the header becomes very long
after the primaries. The long tube design makes very little difference
whether you have a 3" exhaust, 4" exhaust, or even an open header. It
allows the enough room for the header to scavenge and perform the way it
should throughout the powerband. I have driven my car to my muffler shop to
get my custom 3" flanges (driving with open header!) before installing the
3" exhaust, and there was a little different than driving with the exhaust
installed (a bit of sluggishness from 1000-2500RPM). There was a big torque
gain over my old DC and 2.25" exhaust instead of a loss which most people
expect with a 3" exhaust.

That's essentially the way that my header is being designed, so I thought that if I could find a 3" exhaust that it would be cheaper to use it instead of custom making a 2.5" since a 3" exhaust would probably be made for a turbo (hence no resonator and a free flowing muffler).

the only company that might offer or build you one is thermal r&d. they offer some 3 inch exhausts for turbo hondas.

if not, custom is the way to go since you're getting all the motor work. and with a custom header if you plan to get one, definitely need a bigger exhaust.

Yes, I had planned on doing a custom stainless 2.5", but I didn't know if anyone offered a pre-made stainless 3". I will probably just stay with the custom 2.5" setup. Makes me wonder what a 3" system would do though. He's using a 3" system on a 1.8, and our engines are 22% larger!!

Billy -- Doesn't HKS make 3"? And there was some N1 style (Apexi?) that was 3" (suited for turbo I think) also.

Yes, I believe so, but I don't think that they make any 3" applications for the Prelude. I will check into it though. Thanks!

No one makes a 3" system for the lude.

Apex'i, Tanabe, Greddy SP, and Thermal are all 60 mm piping, which is around 2.36".

Thermal makes 3" systems for Integras and Civics only. I know a guy who talked to them about making a special run of 3" Prelude exhausts but they needed $1200 per system.

Greddy PE is the biggest you can buy off the shelf, it is made with 60mm and 70mm piping. Why not just keep your PE?

CarSound makes a 3" cat.

The header is going to have a 2.5" collector, so there is no use in using a 60mm exhaust. I need the exhaust diameter to be a minimum of 2.5".

well, sometime ago, i asked if there was an interest in getting a 3" exhaust from Thermal. thermal said that they are willing to make an initial run as long as we have like 10-12ppl. hoever, i only had 4 even though i know there are a lot of turbo/nos ludes out there. with the jrsc out, i am wondering if there will be any difference. if anyone is interested, let me know.
