Wiper low / speed I not working

Here's what happens if the switch is set to:
- Off = works
- INT = works
- Speed II = works

- Speed I = does NOT work

The moment I turn the switch to Speed I, the wipers stop wherever it is they are. They don't go back down unless I move backward to Off, INT or forward to Speed II.

Has anyone encountered this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Had same issue after car sat for 3 years waiting for a new motor... Take out the wiper motor, spray as much of the motor with QD electronic cleaner (use the whole damn can if ya have to) and let evaporate dry. then, spray a liberal amount of electrical safe grease into the motor. Then clean and grease all linkage to the wiper arm transmission assembly... Don't forget to clean the electrical plug connection and use dielectric grease in the connection to prevent corrosion. This will cure all that ails ya...

Might be too late but I'd start with the easiest.... check the shop manual page 23-191 to test the switch first.

Please post back.
