Hondata Manifold Insulator (Heatshield Gasket) Group Buy
I am getting ready to purchase a bunch of stuff from Hondata and wanted to see how many people want the Hondata Heatshield Gasket (insulator) for the H22A. For those that don't know, this insulating gasket will help reduce the effect of heat soak from the head heating the intake manifold. See here for my writeup on the S2000:
The results are the same on all engines- basically, the head heats the manifold which contributes to increased intake charge temps which means you are losing air density. Further, the ECU will pull out timing at certain temps which reduces power even more. You basically won't find as cheap a power added our there as the manifold, DR on the board gained 6WHP pretty much across the board after adding this. It doesn't add as much as it prevents hot weather from taking away (we all know what hot weather does to driveability). Just like a CAI helps with power, so does the insulator.
Installation DOES require removal of the manifold which is no simple task. In about 4-6 hours just about anyone can do it, though.
Details:
The insulator will be $62 shipped Priority mail within the US. Please contact me if you are outside of the US for additional shipping cost. Once I have 15 paid buyers I will place an order at which time you should have your insulator within 2 weeks. If it takes 4 weeks to get 15 buyers, you should have your insulator within 2 weeks of that period.
To avoid the problems I have had on other buys with people backing out, you must pay in advance. I apologize for the inconvenience but this has been incredibly inconvenient for me to reserve spots without payment.
Method of payment will be PayPal. You can pay using this link:
I can get other insulators for the same price, I will simply need you to include that information in the Notes of the PayPal when you pay. You can see what engines Hondata offers them for here:
Please note that there is not one available for the H23A yet. If you are interested, email me, and if there is enough interest we can get Hondata to make one.

Nothing is affected by blocking the coolant line. It is there to prevent freezing. The H22 manifold does not have a coolant path in it, only the TB and IACV. You can bypass those when you install the insulator, and I recommend this unless you park your vehicle in sub-zero temps for a long time, like overnight.
The insulator does NOT block the EGR port anymore like it used to. You will not have a CEL from the insulator and if you want to block the EGR you will have to do so externally.

if you buy this insulator your car will run like stock and wont have to worry about it at all.. its like a oem gasket but thicker and of different material....
nothing is blocked or covered and should work like normal but just run a tad cooler....
once again i am still in for this but give me a few days to pay for it
i have some ebay stuff i am selling
The insulator doesn't block anything, but the coolant bypass most people do at the same time does. There is a coolant line that runs through the TB and IACV that a lot of people bypass. You can always leave that there but you won't get all the power the insulator has to offer. By doing the insulator AND doing the coolant bypass you remove almost all of the heating of the manifold. The head/insulator is probably responsible for about half, the other half comes from the TB/IACV line.
If you live in a seriously cold climate (like upper MI, NY, MN, NE, or Canada) I would not recommend doing the coolant bypass unless your car is garaged and a fair-weather vehicle only.
I have just ordered 4 of these and they should be here by the end of next week. The first 4 people to PayPal me with the link above can have them. Post here if you PayPal so everyone else will know what the status is.
For anyone after those 4, post if you are interested and I will order more.
