5g Center Vent Panel Triple Gauge Pod GB

NOTE: This GB has been completed, all 30 pods were purchased by those in the list below. The manufacturer of these gauges (Lo-Tek Inc.) will be selling these direct to the public in a week or so. To order one of these, please contact the manufacturer below:

www.gaugepods.com // Lotek Inc.

They say that they should have the pod up for sale in a few days from now (5/12/2008).

Thanks to everyone who made this possible! See page 3 of this thread for install instructions of the Lo-Tek unit when you get it.

***********

This is an update to the previous threads & group buys we've offered before; you guys asked for something lower cost and we've listened. It's finally happening.

This group buy is for a custom, 3-gauge housing that will mount to the center vent/clock panel on the 5th gen Prelude. We are working with a company to get a batch of 30 of these made up (their min order). The final product will look similar to this one:

but shaped to fit the 5g center vent piece. It will overlay the top/textured portion of the dash & install requiring a glue or screws (your choice). Finish will be similar to the stock piece (matte/satin black/charcoal) and will be grained as close as we can to stock (unfortunately it can't be exact). The housing will fit three 2-1/16" gauges. Gauges are aimed to face the driver exactly with the same upward angle as the speedo/tach cluster (see images below). Installation will require cutting of the center vent piece to pass wires through and the backside of the gauges so the gauges fit flush (on longer gauges like Autometer). Some shallow gauges can probably fit without cutting. The pod material is ABS plastic & should outlast the stock center vent piece.

I've personally laid hands on an example (for another car) and the work is high quality. Due to it having to fit over the OE piece the fit may not be "OEM Honda" perfect but this also isn't a $600 custom one-piece molded-in unit (for those of you that were keeping up with our work to date).

Final price will be $45, we will ship anywhere in the US for a total of $52 and anywhere worldwide for a total of $60.

The units should be available by the end of March for shipment. We are looking for buyers now to put down a $30 deposit & pay the balance when they are ready. Deposits will be fully refundable if you decide not to buy.

I will post up a picture of the first prototype as soon as it comes off the mold end of this month or early March. Buyers can decide then if they still want it or not, and PM me to back out then.

As you guys know there is nothing out there right now for center gauges in the 5g, and custom ones can be pricey or look like complete ass. This will definitely be a fantastic solution for the price.

Below are some pics of the prototype to show gauge placement. These look like hell but they were mocked up for pod placement/alignment only! The final unit will look like the one pictured above in terms of final fit/finish. I verified that this rough proto had the proper angles to aim the gauges at the driver with minimal cutting of the OE dash piece to pass wires through.

Thanks a lot for the support.

As for the 4g, if there is enough support for it... of course. With 30 buyers we should be able to make a mold & do it.

Anyone interested in one for 4g, post with your support here!

Please include your s/n from po.com in the PayPal notes.

imo, this one definitely looks a lot better than the other prototype you guys had going. that's great that you could get it cheaper...if i still had plans to go further than a few suspension mods, i'd be in for one.
