no you don't, they are both h22a heads 4th gen is a1, 5th gen a4, difference is bottom block and internals as well as different intakes, but as for the part that bolts on the head, you don't need to modify. i have a 4th gen dc sport header on my 5th gen SH.. nuf said.. there is an issue on the B section tho.. but not was you asked.

Why does this pertain to anything? No one said anything about engine block codes or internals.

They actually don't have different intakes as all intakes fit 4th / 5th gen vtec engines.

The OP asked if you need to modify anything to fit the header, YES YOU DO. You can either have all 4th gen parts in the exhaust or all 5th gen parts (obviously). Or ghetto rig it and get some exhaust shop to elongate the b pipe.
