WHat plan would you do.........

Ok....

I am constantly changing my mind as to what I am going to do with MY 92si in respect to Engine Setup.

My 2.3 has 160,000 miles on it. I havent' done a compression test but I expect no problems// car was owned by older man in SF and was driven under normal conditions. So What would you recommend for a setup in my conditions.

Heres what keeps running through my head:

Get a H22 swap or long block
Pull my 2.3 and take block and get JDM H22 pistons with Eagle rods. balance everything and polish the crank. Then Put oil squirters in block and get block ready for VTEC Head. Pull the JDM motor and PUT the Head on it with Crower or Skunk2 Cams and then later get P&P.

But I am on a budget when I am ready so I really need to look at the cheapest way to do this. SO, is this a better option,

Park the lude buy a beater, pull the 2.3 get the block done get and at the same time get a JG Head and then later get the cams and such when I can afford. When it runs sell beater and then enjoy.

And for Engine management can a V-fac be good enough to keep every thing from detonation and such. OR is it almost neccesary to have a Hondata.
I wouldnt mind spending the $$$ on a hondata but In my area there isn't anyone that can tune them. closest is 8hrs to bayarea
or 8hr to Seattle

And with all the problems now and in the past with our crank bearings are there any stronger than stock ones out there??
And for the Oil pump during the head swap I know I need to get a H22 one, so is it better to go with a prodrive all at the same time?

Thanks for reading my insanity

Not sure what you're looking for. If you are looking for financial advice, save your money until you can afford to do it all at once. Do it piecemeal and you will be sorry.

If you're looking for a H22 vs H23 build then you will have to answer that yourself. Or are you considering an H23 VTEC?

Nothing is wrong with stock crank bearings. They are fine, it's when there is insufficient oiling or too much wear that they spin and fail.

VAFC is in adequate for preventing detonation, but unless you raise the CR significantly of a motor it is sufficient for most tuning (aside from being boosted).
