Wow, I haven't been on this forum in years. Forgot I even made this post untill I saw an email on it today.
I've heard of several v6 ludes running around. The swap is still rolling around my mind. I knew back then it was possible, the mounts are in a similar locations, the trans mount is the farthest off by about 3" iirc. Overall the v6 is smaller length and width wise and minimally taller. Axles and modified motormounts would be the bulk of the custom work and I'm completely capable of everything else. Weight wise the shipping weights of the j32a2 longblock +trans is only 50lbs heavier than a type s long block +trans and ediff from the same supplier. Weight gains would be minimal and could be easily offset by normal weight saving techniques.
Between buying, blowing up, then parting out my 4ws si, and about $4k into my GTi. The prelude hasn't had any major engine work yet. Moving back to indiana has deff been the biggest draw back, no good shops around me and a small car sceen.
As far as previous statements on money investment, I would estimate about $19k has gone into my prelude in suspension, brakes, wheels etc.. including purchase price of about $6k.
Then engines were kinda expensive~ $1000 used and transmissions expensive, $2000. Now with civic swaps becoming popular the motor prices have dropped but trans prices have skyrocketed. The good transes are going for full kswap territory. And with fuel econ in mind kswap is probably where I'll go. Regardless of direction the motor s being pulled this fall.
