Tuning

Ok, so Ive been reading around on this site and others for a couple of months now and I think I have in mind what I want to do with my 97 base performance wise. I wana do I/H/E and tune to get the most power out of my powertrain. Cams maybe down the road. Ive done the intake and header so far. A high flow cat and magnaflow muffler will complete my exhaust system. Im not a fan of catback exhausts that ive heard, too raspy, I wana deeper tone.

As I understand, to tune, you have to get an obd adaptor and some kinda computer module add on (hondata or something?) and of course have someone tune it (preferably one who knows what hes doing). Im wondering what results I will see? Will it cause problems if I wana do cams later? Will tuning be ok if its a daily driver(fuel economy/other problems)? What parts do I need to tune and how much $$$ am I looking at spending? What kind of gains will I see?

1. results vary on many factors (what you have on the car etc) could be 2hp could be 15hp. it just depends

2. if you want to do cams later, you will have to retune. some shops charge a flat rate to retune or whatever.

3. tuning is fine because it helps even out your a/f ratio and you might get better mpg. depends on your tuner/software/existing stuff

4. search for the parts. its been covered.

5. cost could be a few hundred to well over a grand...depends on you

6. you already asked this question.
