from start to finish

hey I just got a 97 prelude base not too long ago and I love that car, but i would really like to fix the car up... Im new to honda and been reading alot about what parts i should add and upgrade, but im still not sure where i can start for a NA build... i know its too much to ask but i would really like to have someone to advice me where i could start at and what to get and not to get... so far all i have in the car at the moment is a AEM V2 CAI that came with the car when i bought it and that was all... the reason im asking is because i really like my prelude and dont wanna sell it for a civic (which was my second option) bc i see them too often and yeah... if anyone could help me out that would be awesome, for now i got a 4k-5k budget since i dont make very much so yeah

Id do some basic maintenance first and then maybe some coilovers and full exhaust

- new clutch
- spark plugs & wires
- distributor cap and rotor
- timing things
- valve adjustment & seals
- all fluids

BC Racing BR Type Coilover for 92-96 Honda Prelude - Honda - BC Racing Superstore
theres some kick ass coilover set for you. track car proven

about that exhaust thing you should do some researching. do you want to buy some 60mm catback or make 3" custom..

then maybe vibrant header is pretty nice purchase, it fits perfect and is a legit product. makes some power.

then if theres money left obd1 conversion

you said about the BR-type coilovers for a 4th gen prelude, would they fit on a 5th gen? also what type of clutch should i get? i keep hearing people getting stage 3 clutch and im not quite sure what that means. I do also have NGK spark plug cables, but do you also mean other wiring? well for now ill stick with 60mm, any suggestions for that? and also what does the obd1 do? is it easier to code or what?

^ 4th gen coilovers fits 5th gen so theyre for 92-01 preludes.

Id get exedy stage 1 clutch if I were you. stages are for what kind of purpose that clutch is for.
1 is for stock/mild builds
2 mild builds
3 for heavy build engines

well, I have skunk2 catback, some people like apexi... go to youtube and listen them or something and figure out what you like the most. just make sure its from some brand name company, cheapers rust.

if you want to build your engine more, you have to tune it/reprogram your ecus software that engine "updates" air/fuel rations. your car have now obd2 system and you cannot really do anything with it. so if you wanna tune/program your ecu you have to get obd1 ecu there where tuner can make new software. you need another ecu & wiring harness, your tuner then takes care of rest

but do that maintaining first and then see how much you have left. its the most important thing: to keep your engine healthy
