Skunk2 Intake

I'm currently planning a new N/A build to go into my JDM 4th gen, which I'm sure is down on compression since the timing belt broke. I'm looking at using a UKDM H22A8 block (11.1 CR) and type S cams. I'll probably also lose the balance belt and replace the cam gears and pulleys. The cat has been removed and the exhaust from there back replaced with a Blueflame stainless system. I'm planning on replacing the header at the same time as the engine swap.

I quite like the idea of fitting a Skunk2 IM with a Hondata heatshield, but there seems to be a fair bit of negative opinion on here about them. I'm thinking that I'll probably be heading towards the limits of the stock IM and that it'd be nice to fit, as it also allows for bigger a throttle body if necessary. It's my weekend car, so I'm not too concerned if I lose a bit of bottom end power. Am I right in thinking it may be worthwhile in this case? And has anyone got or got links to a before and after dyno plot, other than the Skunk2 one, which is obviously open to interpretation as a bit less than impartial?

I understand now that there is a difference between the "old" sk2 manifold and the "new" one. I've never seen the difference, so I can't comment. However, the "new" one I think is considerably better than the old POS. You might look for more details on it over on Honda-Tech.

I don't think there is any evidence that there is more than one version of the Skunk2 IM for the H22. I think all that they did was start calling it the "Pro-Series" manifold, since thats what Skunk2 calls all of their IM's now. That's where the speculation you hear on the forums comes from. I don't think the Skunk2 IM is junk or as bad as some people claim it to be. I think it just requires a good tune, both on part throttle maps and full throttle maps. I think a lot of people aren't doing this. JDogg on honda-tech did a dyno test comparision not too long ago between the stock IM, Euro-R, and Skunk2 and the Skunk2 did as good or better than all.
