si build up dilema...

I have a si with 160,000 miles on it and it runs great!
Props to Honda!

I have a problem where to take my car with respect to power,
My plans
1.Vtec Head/H22a JDM pistons/eagle rods/micropolished crank greddyheader/thermal catback/AEM Intake/AEM camgears/Crower stage 2 cams/walbro fuel pump/RC 330 injectors/MSD ignition

or

2.3 head ported and polished with stiffer valvetrain/Type S piston/
Eagle rods/micropolish crank/ALL boltons and 50shot of NOS

what do you guys think, I want to keep a budget of $4000 total
which would be done in 3 stages basically and this will be a daily driver for the most part

thanks

anything... I know a few of you have done most of the first option
especially satan, and I know that slp mode has so far had a reliable performer.

I think it was willbrk who got the JG head package with cams and is very happy. Has anyone actually put the Type S pistons in the
2.3 with the 2.3 head? This is safe I'm assuming right? but it is also true that the 2.3 head has a smaller combustion camber which would raise the compression even more.

Just need to know where to go becuase, if #2 sounds better then
my next few mods are going to be e/h/p/cam gears

if its #1 then its figure compression and go find a vtec head and ecu to get that started.

Opinions please.

Also, I feel that since I bought a si that It is only right to stay as such and make the best of the car I bought. I know it's not as bad as civics swaping h22's into them since I actually have the same car but, its like I owe it to all the si owners... call me crazy

Ah ha it was me. Stay with the H23, run huge cams, get it P&P'd and then the rest. The style I have mimmics the flow of a P&P'd v-tec head. The ports were reshaped and reangled to flow like the v-tec. The chambers were also welded which gives a nice boost to performance, which makes up for the better shape of the v-tec chamber. So all their advantages just went away. The only thing the v-tec has on this head is the ability to run .500+ cams. The biggest you can go on an H23 is .440 Not that much diff .06, but that .06 is good for a couple of HP. Look at JG. Mike
edit: Go with #2 for sure.

With Type-S pistons, you are going to be running 12.3:1 CR. You also say you want to run a 50 shot. Well, lets just hope you plan on some really nice fuel management and some dyno time to tune everything.

Regrinds aren't bad as long as they don't add metal and grind to reshape it. They can't the metals to match and the new stuff usually wears off. Yeah it get smashed. A basic regrind is basically grinding the base circles. When you take metal off the base circle you have to move the rocker up to meet it. Since the rocker started out higher, when the peak of the lobe comes around it is essentially opushing the valve down further. I have not found out whether the cams I have are billet or not. I can't go by the price either because Javier hooked me up. I got a huge huge discount. Mike
