i don't understand how the K20A is making so much power. i know some of you like daemione have been following this on clubrsx. anyone else think these numbers (even for a dynapack) are really inflated?
from what i can tell, mods are ITR intake, ITR 70->64.8mm TB, hondata gasket, ITR cams, comptech race header, Hondata ECU reflash, Greddy exhaust, and maybe UR underdrive pulleys.
meanwhile we rarely see any H-series making over 210whp NA, and this guy is claiming 230+whp
RSX heads and intake manifolds have been proven to be one of the best things Honda has put out in the past few years along with the S2000 head. Even just throwing a CAI on the car brings up the HP a good 10+hp. The intake/head just flows that well from the factory. It doesn't help either that their ROM's are flashable...
I'd like to see if they came out with a TSX Type-S/R motor and what kind of power they can get out of the KA24, then maybe a decent swap idea might become available.
Yeah, I agree - the major advantage I think is a superbly flowing head right from the factory. And of course, having a catalog full of Type R parts available with ridiculously good ECU support doesn't hurt.
must be nice.
They (hondata) just put up a chart of a stock Accord K24 bottom end with a Type R K20 head. Has some obvious restrictions up top, and needs more compression than the stock Accord block offers, but still pretty sickening.

Seeing this dyno combined with everything I have heard about the rsx-s is making me really want to sell the lude and buy one. Why cant our car take this well to mods. I just wish the rsx could look like a lude.
wow i only paid 4000 less for the lude over an rsx-s. i liked it when i test drove it but the interior didn't seem that sporty to me, but shoot that is something i can deal with if these things make that kinda power.
Also I don't understand how they gain 50ft/lbs of torque at 2000 rpm's GOOD LORD!

lol u dont seem too afraid of 'em . planning on 230whp?
I don't know really...I like my car the way it is, I'm not on a quest for the most hp ever produced. I own a 4th gen cause I like the way it looks, I would never pimp an RSX for that reason..

in that respect i agree with you, im not changing my car either, i dont 'dig' the RSX

I speak fluent typo
if you wanna spend 20Gs on a car buy a SRT4 it will walk on an rsx any day of the week.....that car will make 300 whp for 3 gs in aftermarket parts....
i was impressed so i went and test drove an RSX-S again today. HORRIBLE! the dash is in your face and the car is like a squashed up bug. I loved getting back into the lude. In short I would not trade my lude for one despite the great engine. I would rather spend more money on the lude to make it compete.
Stock my bolt-on lude felt more powerful, but thats not a fair comparison.

The K20 has some things that the h22 doesn't. One is the iVTEC. The ability to move the cam phase with engine speed is surely part of the power equation.
Two, notice that the dyno charts show the engine running to over 8000 rpm. I dunno what the redline is in the RSX but it is def higher than our 7600. RPM is proportional to horsepower, so there is another reason.
Plus, the usual improvements in friction redution, combustion and flow efficiency.
I i'll be sticking with the lude for a while (I have this loan thing to pay off). But I am excited about the TSX. The K24 in that is supposed to be sweet. SCC or import 2nr had a review of the car last month. The motor revs just as well as the RSX-S motor w/ more torque. That's gonna be the next big engine swap idea. Imagine a 2.4L RSX or Civic.

If I could afford an RXS-S, I'd get one. Stock they look alright, but with a few things done, they look HOT. If only I had more cash. With I/H/E I'm lucky to be putting down 155 HP to the wheels.

Yeah, stock, they definitely have a tall & somewhat ungainly attitude. But dropped an inch or two with the factory kit & the right wheels, they look a lot more sleek & dangerous.
As for engine potential, I think it's worth mentioning that we still don't have a great idea of what the H22 is really capable of . . . . with a race header (SMSP) & comprehensive fuel/ignition tuning, I think we'll see more impressive results than we're accustomed to - hopefully around the 190whp range on a dynapack.

*Fresh rebuild 7/31/03*
**3/20/04....showin off on the bottle and ended up with one melted plug and another covered in oil

The RSX looks like a Toyota Paseo w/ a lift kit & a wing...
