A couple of us are having problems w/ our secondaries rattling when they are open. If you guys can take a look at this thread and help us out, it would be great.
when driving normally there is no problem, but when you hit it and pass roughly 4000k when the secondaries would open is when you hear the rattling/air rushing sound. Is there something else you think it could be?

Originally posted by marcucci Doesn't make sense. There is nothing to rattle. You would have to work hard to f'up the secondary butterfly assy or actuator to make it rattle.
I'd look elsewhere for the problem.
really...any idea where? It honestly only happens when pushing the car at higher rpms like above 4k. At first i assumed it was my intake, but then i figured it would make that sound at WOT anywhere in the rpm band then. Weird thing is when shifting at the high points you can here the rattling/ rushing air between the shifts.

like I said your secondaries don't open until 4900rpms so that can't be it...have you revved the car in neutral with the hood up to isolate the noise?
Originally posted by Tony tried that and i heard it but the person outside didn't hear it. but i swear it sounds like its coming right from the intake tract or the manifold.
but you can hear it in neutral from inside the car?
If you can hear it inside, figure out exactly when/where it does it in the RPM band or with respect to load. See if you can hear it under the hood with the hood up and working the throttle by hand. Hold the secondary actuator and see if you can feel a vibration.
Something else that confuses me is that "air rushing" isn't something that I would associate with rattling. I don't know what those two have in common or what that means.

sorry for the confusion but its tough to decipher exactly what it sounds like. I guess its more of a rattling sound.
