Milling the head and using a thinner hg are poor ways to increase compression. If you're going to do this, you better get adjustable cam gears because your timing will be retarded.

Historically Crower cams haven't done so well compared to others, at least as far as the H22 goes. The Skunk2 Pro cams are the best performing currently on the market.

Yeah thats what ive read a few places that milling the head isnt a great idea. What do you think about just a thinner head gasket? would I still need cam gears? As for crower cams I havent heard to many bad thing about them but they are also like half the price of skunk2. Ive also read that the crowers perform better on a setup like mine then the skunks and the skunks are better on bigger builds. I could be wrong...
I will be dynoing my car on a mustang dyno and I'm pretty sure they read low...

OKay I've read more and been convinced to go with skunk2 pro2 and the skunk2 valvetrain its worth the $200 for more power and reliability

If you go with pro cams you have to get pro spring and retainers as well. Go with the euro r IM by Rosko

do you have a cam degree fixture?

there is a reason why these cams are called PRO instead of the TUNER cams.

I advise staying clear of making statements like "the best performing..."
Each setup is going to like something better, but there will never be a best. For instance, on my setup without vtec I made 183whp with cylinder 3 down 30 lbs because as I've learned now the shop was a joke and couldnt align valves properly and messed with cables on the transmission to make me come back to them or have them build a block for me.

This was with crower cams made custom for my setup, which they claim caused a bad idle and ordered me a set of type s cams. As I know now, the cam cards between all 3 of these sets of cams I have now are identical through 3500rpm, so how is it one was causing a rough idle if it was actually the same except with more duration above 3500?

So now on my engine, I am stuck for the next month or so, a head that they had their porter do over the one my engine builder did because they required a waiver to sign it because it was different to them and therefore a "worse" setup. Bottom line is no cam out there is the "best" right now, what you want to look for is optimum concurrence between your intake, the cfm in the head, the fuel maps and exhaust and then pick the cam with the profile to optimize all of this working together.

What do you mean the cam cards were idential through 3500 RPMs? Duration is duration (for the same cam lobe), there is no distinction between duration at XXXX RPMs and YYYY RPMs.

Also, milling the head can be VERY beneficial on an engine if your goal is to optimize squish clearance, also if you're stuck with certain parts (by rules) milling may be your only option.

FYI, I made over 200WHP SAE corrected on a DynoJet at T1 using OEM cams, intake manifold, pistons, rods, etc. a few years ago. Granted, this is on a track only car, but the only aftermarket parts (at that time) were an AEM CAI, SMSP header, fairly open exhaust, Euro R crank pulley, AEM alternator pulley, and NepTune RTP in a P28 ECU. The engine was tweaked a little, but no aftermarket internals.

I make a little more power now, but the setup is essentially the same. However, I'm running a much quieter exhaust!

thats 195-200 HP to the flywheel that it came with. Usually after losing a percentage of hp to the drivetrain and other factors h22a4s make around 150-75 est. hp to the wheel depending on mileage and condition. He wrote he made 200WHP Wheel horsepower. Thats power that reaches the wheels after losing the percentage of power to those other factors.

I stepped down from a SRT4 Neon stage 4 back in 2005. Due to a lay off in Michigan. Finally got a nice job and trying to get my street tuning days back.

You can do anything if you set ur mind to it. I mean hey if they say the crankshaft can handle up to 700hp why not upgrade the rest? lol

If I can get this car to run anything near 12's ill be happy..
