I've had the type s intake, and it definately does not give gains like a CAI. Have you had both in your car?
I admit that my mugen might not give the best gains but it's tone more than makes up for it.

I have, I like the TypeS better. Too bad neither your opinion or mine is considered hard evidence as to which is better.

Exactly, I was just offering an opinion. I hope your not contending that the type s gives More gains than a CAI, other than losing less torque down low? Plus, I believe there was a dyno plot back when this was h-a that showed that the type s gave 1 hp w/a k&n drop in.

I couldnt see that after seeing the TypeS and the OEM USDM box side by side. EVERYTHING about the TypeS made it seem better for power. I would be willing to bet a months pay that a K&N drop in with the factory airbox would make at very least 1 hp which would make the gains from the TypeS with K&N exactly zero.

It depends on what RPM range you look at.
Back to back dynos on my car with both intakes produced nearly identical #'s in VTEC, but 2-5lb-ft of extra torque below the x-over for the type-s intake.
Remember, that last bit of pipe on the type-s is the same size as the stock intake. If that, too were larger, there should be some upper-end hp gains.
I can provide dynojet runviewer files for all who want them. Dynojet has a program to veiw them for free on their website.

They bumped up the fuel pressure on that last run. I think I had it @ 38 psi and they bumped it up to somwhere around 41-42 Psi.

I played with the VAFC settings myself but did not gain anything out of it.

I don't even think HKS makes cams for a prelude or any honda engine... Don't they make parts for turbo cars?
BTW, you should probably start your own thread regarding this subject.

My plot:

178.5 hp and 141.8 tq

This was from January, before Honda had to replace my motor under warranty (even with my mods listed!) b/c of a spun rod bearing. Same mods except i fixed the "missing" parts in the graph, which were due to old spark plugs (honda dealership didnt change them at 60k service) that were way white b/c of the VAFC settings i was using from NTPOG for over a year. Also replaced the spark plug wires which also could have caused the gaps.

Mods at time of dyno:
AEM CAI
DC Header and Exhaust (got rid of the DTM "dirty" tips though)
Testpipe
ODB-2 Workaround Mod
Aem pullies
VAFC (baseline in graph was with settings from internet NTPOG i think, and the other is after tuning)
My 4th run was the best in terms of power, as it hit 181. something, but the final number dropped a little as i leaned out the final setting all the way the VAFC could go, and as you can see from the fuel/air ratio, it still wasnt enough!

BTW for all you doubters, my X over point is 4500 and as you can see i gained almost 10hp at the cross over from the other 4700 rpm point.

I GUESS thats it! Have a good one!
