Plugging Oil Squirters

Hey guys. I'm shawn and i have a 1994 civic that I'm building an h22 for. darton sleeves, Je pistons, stock crank, balance shaft eliminator, Endyn complete head port polish valves etc.

Now i would like to eliminate the oil squirters. And does anyone know what kind of plugs to use.

Thanks Shawn

My understanding is that you can use freeze plugs. If you are asking what size, then I can't help you there (sorry). I think if you do some detailed searching on Honda-Tech.com you might find a thread where someone has done it (search in the Prelude or the FI forums). I have installed balancer shaft eliminators, but not squirter plugs.

Actually, send a PM to dvsracergirl. I bet she would know.

I have read about people using banjo bolts and tapping the holes for them.

Are you plugging them to get more consistent oil pressure?

Well Ive read arguements for keeping them or plugging them on b's. And my conclusion is the less mass on the pistons the better and a good tune will keep things cool. Oil pressure is good. I just found on these on Jegs. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...52564_-1_11051

With honda bond or some type of sealant. I just need to figure how to size them.
Let me know what you guys think.

Wow I think the JEGS website is down or something. It was working 10-15mins ago. I'll keep trying. If don't work I'll delete it.

Site is down for routine maintenance

They're there for reason. To keep the piston cool. You don't need them as much with forged pistons as with cast, but in the end if you're doing anything like tracking (not drag racing) or road racing, it would be very wise to not plug them up. Honda put them for a specific reason. All performance engines use oil squirters, from Formula 1 to road racing Factory Porsche teams.

Sometimes it seems like people modify things just for the sake of doing so.

for a road race and daily driven car....leave them in.

if your drag racing and are planning to rebuild the engine ever season you can leave them out....by just removing the rail and replacing the original plug into the stock location.

so simple its easy

of course you can always be crazy and get forced oiling in the wrist pins when you order pistons and then remove the oil squirters
