Pistons

is there anything i need to do or should do before putting 4th gen vtec pistons in a stock h23a1? like sleeves. would other pistons be a better option? i just want to make the best decision all feedback is helpful.

You know I've never heard of anyone using vtec pistons for an h23. Maybe I haven't read enough.

I thought there were two schools of thought: higher compression (type S pistons), lower compression for boost.

Heck I didn't even know the heads were different between h23's / h22's because I always assumed most ppl don't change it whenever they decide to slap on a h22 head.

Umm, I would be careful. VTEC pistons have a different compression height than H23 pistons. They may or may not cause valve impact issues or quench pad problems.

Also, if you change pistons, you should really re-hone the bores. New rings = new hone.

thanks for the help im just looking for higher compression and im going to have a shop install because im only good for simple engine things.
