I went to a local autocross yesterday and drove the car hard for a while, I've done this a few times before and I've never had a problem. I allowed the engine to cool down before heading home. Once I was on the road, while the car was idling at a stop sign, the oil light was barely coming on; it was very dim and as soon as I reved it up a bit it would go away.
Later on, I was stuck at a light waiting for about 1 1/2 minutes and then the oil presure light started blinking. At this point I pulled over, allowed the engine to cool down for about 5 minutes and checked the oil level, but it was fine... It actually had a bit too much oil (right above the second dot.). I cranked the engine and removed the oil cap and I could see oil being sprayed over the cams so I got back on the road and as long as I kept it above idle speed it was fine. I haven't felt a loss of power or anything like that, but I'm still afraid, it could be something major.
