Ok, I am new to forum and to hondas..a good friend had his h23a1 pulled and installed a h22a. the guy that did it cant get it to start.
What I do know is this..they swapped oil pump and put a new crank/tdc sensors in front of motor...they got spark, will start and run if spray in throttle body. noid lite test injectors very intermittent flashing. so it seems to me we got spark and timing is ok.. i am in process of removing a very poorly installed viper alarm(twisted wires and little bits of electrical tape) and getting the harness back to a more stock condition.
First of all what year prelude. assuming 92-95 unless you got a 96 obdII h23. wire harness with external coil plug? h22a is jdm of usdm? internal or external dizzy?
True MikeJuvi, but we dont know if the h22 is obd1 or 2. But could he have external coil wire harness and install the internal coil dizzy? Wondering, if so he can jump the external coil wire harness with 30amp fuse. If not it wont start. Seems like they took off the h22a from obdII prelude, since they changed out oil pump and moved tdc, etc in front. just use your h23 dizzy.

True that, it's been awhile and I haven't seen my car in months. I forgot about obd2 in 1996 preludes
2001 Prelude, and I think they used the distributor & ecm(and it looks like all the rest of original vehicle harness and sensors) from h23 and did the oil pump/tdc what sensor does ecm need to see to allow injector pulse--got little or no injector flash---when it does flash, it stumbles trying to start but thats it
**original harness, distributor, external coil, oil pump & a new tdc sensor from advance auto...they used injectors and intake from new motor, and motor did not have a ecu with it, so original ecu as well***viper alarm removed, and added 2 additional grounds from battery to engine & 2 more from engine to body
also checked grounds at ecu, and grounded ecu itself as well.. injectors measured 11.2 ohms from what i have read is high impedance injectors which should be used on the original 01 lude??
the ecu for the car...he did not get an ecu with new motor

OK, engine came from 01 prelude to go in 4th gen lude.
You will need to change the dizzy like you did. OBD1 P13 ECU. H23 wireharness and the dizzy from the H23. And H22A OBD1 p13 Injectors + resistor box....... then do the nick nack stuff like wiring vtec w/e after it starts...

No engine is h22a from japan i think....I know the car is a 01 lude that had an h23a1
I think I have a bad crank/tdc sensor, I believe there should be some resistance measuring between both terminals thru the sensor(I am showing open on both),pin 1(green) to pin 2(red) for tdc & pin 3(blue) to pin 4(white) for crank. but due to my lack of experience with imports I am not sure. as stated above someone else put in a brand new(advance auto) ckp/tdc sensor
