No more hesitation with P72 or P28?

I've had the infamous JDM H22 hesitation since the first day I installed it (2+ years ago). Almost everything has been changed at one point (MAP, TPS, plugs, wires, distributor, fuel filter) due to maintenance or just to try to alleviate the problem. So far no luck.

So, with that in mind, I have read that with either a properly tuned P28 or P72 that the hesitation will go away. True or false? If so, I may just take the plunge and go with one or the other. Preferably P72 so I can keep the secondary butterflies. I have been running 91 / 93 octane for the past 7 years I've had my lude and I don't plan on running 87 or 89

If you disable the knock function then you'll be fine on a P72.

Are you on a USDM or JDM P13?

JDM P13.

I hate the hesitation! It drives me nuts especially when 5 minutes prior the car was pulling like a champ

Just curious, did you ever clean out the EGR ports and valve?

The EGR ports on my IM are welded. I did however block off my EGR, seems to pull a bit better, although that may just be in my mind

Ah I see... well that should've done it if it was the EGRs causing it

I've run a JDM P13 before, but I never noticed hesitation. My initial thought is the octane, since in Japan it is a bit higher than here.

I've been reading about the whole octane thing. The octane number is higher but its because of the way they calculate it. Supposedly it ends up being about the same as 91 or 93
