New top end Build , Maybe bottom as Well ??

I was Looking at new cams for my H22A4 they were the stage one Brian Crower cams. Pending a Compression test i was wondering if a top end only build would be alright or if the top was pulled the bottom needed to be done as well. i would prolly go ahead and rebuild the entire head if i were to do it though. Also I have read about type-S pistons, if i had low compression would they be an easy swap ? i have read the post on here about them, it doesn't sound too rough. any insight, advice, ideas, questions, concerns would be appreciated.

Anything is alright, but what are you aiming for?

The type-s piston swap requires honing from a machine shop, especially if the engine is higher mileage.
Many build their heads and get great results from that, but one thing to keep in mind is that while the head is off your block is right there. You are right to wait on a go ahead from a compression check though, if you are above 190 throughout you should be just fine with headwork. But the other side to this would be that building the head to take higher rpms, run on higher compression, etc will always be limited by what your block can handle. And this is by no means suggesting the h22a4 (assuming that's your engine) has a weak bottom end, is just a counter argument to consider. Nonetheless, answer the first question up top before you decide what route to go. Good luck
