Oh, mike beat me to it, definitely go with something other than the type s, mainly because they're heavy slugs. Japan also has the same emissions we do, 95 and older will be OBD1, 96 and newer is going to be OBD2, don't know how that dumb internet lie got started. You also cannot get the Type S pistons from the dealer here, I work there, trust me, JDM parts are not available to buy in the US through Honda.

I wouldn't bother with the red top engines, so much money for only a slight bit more power especially if you build a red top and a black top with the same parts the red top engine wont make any more power in the end. Just do what bouckarooo is saying and what I have already done, find a T2W4 gearbox. It's perfect for a street driven car because you have close gears, LSD and the fifth is the same as a prelude so gas mileage wont be hurt.

O man, I haven't been on this thread in a while... sorry

I decided to go with a blue top H23a VTEC from Hmotorsonline... came in last week and am working on it now. Will up date here:
