Intake Manifold Gasket Recommendations

So I would like to hear people's opinions on different intake manifold gaskets. I am probably going to use one of the "Insulated" head gaskets unless I hear any negative comments about them. Right now, I am leaning towards one made by BLOX. I am pretty sure it is just as good as the Hondata one. These are the main questions I have:
  • Does anyone recommend not getting one of these and just going with stock?
  • Does anyone recommend another brand - if there even are any?
  • Are the benefits really that great?
  • Is there a possibility of getting a poor seal due to the incompressibility of this "insulting" material as compared to OEM gaskets?
  • Also, is there any possibility that using one of these thicker gaskets will require me to use longer bolts to mate the IM to the head?

Any suggestions or comments will be really appreciated. Thank you all.

1. I wouldn't go stock if you are going to go through the trouble of installing one
2. Hondata is good but Marcucci Motorsports has one too (local to texas as well, go to ntpog.org/forums) see if he has any left. I know he was clearancing them out.
3. They help intake temps so on paper, sure it helps, real world, don't know if you will see the difference for everyday driving.
4. Not if you get a good one. You can always use some sealant (I would verify on this) around the gasket.
5. Depends but I think you can use stock, if not, the kit should come with the bolts but I recall them using the stock bolts.

You might also want to look at the blacktrax spacers (local board member works there).

Contact dvracergirl (something like that).

Okay thanks for the info. I wasn't planning on taking the manifold apart, but I do like the Dyno results from that BlackTrax spacer. I may end up trying that out. I am only considering changing the IM gasket because I have a coolant leak and have to replace my head gasket.
