i see i can get type s pistons for 300 from one of our sponsers. This would be a good christmas gift form the rents. What exactly would I have to do to put them in, how much gains would i see? Do you think i would be straight with 85,ooo on the block?

Sleeve the block. So add $850 or so to that and you're good to go. Does $300 include rings?

oh type-s pistons. I can't read...nevermind then.

If your car is a 93 you need to rebush your rods to accept a floating wrist pin (type-s), or buy H22A4 rods.

no H22A4 rods and type-s rods are the same, it's that H22A1 rods and H22A4 rods are not the same.

Eh you dont have to do the head right away. THe gains from type s pistons would be good enough to hold you down for a little bit. 10whp is not bad.

why spend the money twice....if the head is off then finish it....unless you got 350 bucks burning a hole in your pocket to pull the head again.....

with 85 k you should get new bearings, rods (seen some for sale in classifieds for cheap) and all new seals and gaskets....buy the pistons big so you can hone it out also....

I don't know that it would be worth all the trouble for a JDM engine. you're already at 10.5:1, the Type S go to 11:1.

You dont need to pull the head to do head work.

I say go ahead and build the bottom end and save up for some springs/ret and cams. All that can be done with out pulling the head.

i just rebuilt my motor completely. the parts alone for rebuilding the bottom with OEM parts at cost from Honda was around 700.00 - I replaced the rings, seals, crankshaft bearings, rod bearings, rings, oil pump assembly, water pump, and about 115.00 of the cost is for the parts for the manual tensioner swap.

you need to grind the rocker arms for aftermarket cams....the whole process is far far easier if you pull the head
