Hondata S300

Wassup guys,

I was just wondering if the S300 will work with our stock ecu? or would I have to purchase a p28 and install it in there?

TIA!
Bryan

you need an obd1. hondata won't work with obd2, if thats what you mean.

ditch the atts and buy an lsd.

buy the s200. the s300 is a waste unless you're just extremely enthusiastic about tuning.

i can recommend http://www.phearable.net for ecu's. $185 shipped for a p28 with basemap. i'm a very happy phearable customer.

What is wrong with the s300? i currently have a s200 actually the thing is that the s300 comes with more features or comes with all the features standard.

A lot of the advanced features in the S300 still don't quite work right...
I'd say it is a huge step above crome or uberdata, though.

^^ you'll need a OBD1 ECU, the s300 wont work with our ECUs, I have a p28+s200 with boost and already obd2 socketed so no conversion harness is needed. If my cousin doesnt want did you want to buy it? let me know

anyways, which ecu would be best? p28? or p72? and what does hondata mean by secondary runners will not work unless a p72 ecu was used?

bottom line = hondata will not work with any obdII ecu.

the secondary runners are no big deal. pull the top part of the intake manifold off and take them out. it's a 30 minute job. once you take them out, it won't throw a CEL or anything, so don't worry. the p28 just wont control them.

if you do leave them in, you'll see a slightly noticeable power loss above so and so rpm. p28's are cheaper than p72's, so if you wanna take the secondaries out you can save yourself about $100, because the p72's are a lot more expensive.

the s300 is great and all, i'm sure, but it's kinda overkill for a lot of peoples needs. i've also heard it's glitchier than the s200, but that's just what i've heard on H-T. i'd be willing to bet that the s200 will suit you just fine.

http://www.phearable.net for ecu's with excellent basemaps preloaded and customized for you.

I'm running a P28 ECU chipped for Neptune, and tuned by Tony Palo. 204 WHP on stock cams, stock pistons, stock rods, etc. It is a race engine, though. It made the 204 when there were only 5 miles (maybe) on the engine. I'm sure it makes a tad more now!

i'm new here. enlighten me. you have a 200whp bolt-on h22? or have you had some machine work done?

Define machine work?

The head has been milled a serious amount, the balance shafts have been completely removed, the engine was built up to be a semi-race / semi-street engine, but right now all it sees is track duty. There are no major internal modifications. The crank is slightly lightened, but that makes almost no difference in power. The rods and pistons are stock. The head has been milled and slightly polished, but the polishing probably makes no difference in power as there was no port work done. The stock valves were cut to mate with the 3 angle valve seat job. The cams are stock, no mods. I'm also using a stock intake manifold, stock injectors, and the stock fuel rail. As for bolt on mods, I'm using an AEM CAI, SMSP header, open exhaust with a Coast Fab "muffler", AEM alternator pulley, Euro R crank pulley, no PS, and no AC. The EGR system has also been removed.

i think that qualifies as machine work. can you answer two questions though? i have stock pistons... how much needs to be milled to bump the compression to 11.0:1? what's the MAX that can be milled?

(sorry 'bout the thread jack)

^^ haha my feelings arent hurt, just more info for everyone

anyways the big advantage of s300 is the USB connection and can be tuned with any laptop, whereas the s200 isnt as easy

Nope, you can't get to 11:1 on milling alone. I'm close to the max, but not close to 11:1.

You'll need to clay to figure out how far you can go. Figure out the piston to head clearance, then figure out how far the head can be milled (there are tabs that tell you on the head), take the smaller of the two figures, but remember to leave some room incase it needs to be milled again. IIRC, I left myself 0.010", but the piston to head clearance is VERY close.
